Issues at the playground in Eppinghofon, documented on August 31st, 2025

The playground on Charlottenstraße in Mülheim, which was previously a hotspot for waste accumulation and rat infestation, has reopened, according to a report published on 06.03.2025 by Robin Brand, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Mülheim editorial office, on www.waz.de.

However, it seems that the problems of waste and rats have returned. Illegally dumped waste is present in the bushes, and rats are reported to be present at the former container site at Eppinghofer Str./Parallelstr. Waste continues to accumulate at this location, and an electrical appliance has been discarded along a parallel street.

The reopening of the playground comes after local administrative and municipal oversight was found to be responsible for the illegal waste disposal in Mülheim-Eppinghofen, with prior issues such as unaddressed illegal waste and fire hazards not being effectively managed, according to local reports.

The playground on Charlottenstraße was previously closed due to issues with rats and waste. It has since been thoroughly cleaned, but it appears that the waste and rat problems persist in the surrounding area. The construction fence has been partially knocked over, indicating that the issue may not be fully resolved.

The location described is in Mülheim, as reported by the local section of the WAZ. Robin Brand reported on the reopening of the playground on Charlottenstraße in Mülheim, and the article about this issue was also published on www.waz.de on 06.03.25.
