IT training initiative launched by Somalia's Communication Ministry and UNDP, targeting youth empowerment through digital skills acquisition.

The Federal Government of Somalia's Ministry of Communications and Technology (MoCT), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has launched a three-day training program aimed at helping Somali youth thrive in the global economy.

The initiative, which is part of a broader effort to build digital capacity among Somali youth, is structured so that participants work in teams under the guidance of professional facilitators. The training program covers a diverse range of in-demand digital skills, including digital marketing, online business, data analysis, software development, cybersecurity, and UI/UX design.

The goal of the initiative is to ensure Somali youth can keep pace with global technological advancements. Mr. Farah Abdinoor, Director General of the Ministry of Communications and Technology, officially opened the program. The participants, who are students specializing in Information Technology (IT), have welcomed the initiative, highlighting that such skills are essential for modern progress.

The MoCT and UNDP emphasize that the initiative is not just about equipping Somali youth with critical digital skills but also about empowering young people to play a central role in the growth of Somalia's digital economy. The participants believe that the skills they will acquire are essential for modern progress and can open up employment opportunities both within Somalia and internationally.
