WNBA Roundup: Minnesota Lynx Maintain Lead, Playoff Races Heat Up

In the latest developments of the WNBA regular season, the Minnesota Lynx continue to lead the pack with just five games left before the playoffs. The Lynx secured a convincing victory over the Connecticut Sun (94-70) in a home game, extending their winning streak.

Meanwhile, the playoff races are heating up, with several teams fighting for a spot. Among the franchises with French players, New York, Seattle, and Golden State are still in contention.

The Seattle Storm managed to secure a win against the Chicago Sky (79-69), with Gabby Williams scoring 12 points. However, the Storm was without Dominique Malonga due to a wrist injury.

The Connecticut Sun, despite the loss to Minnesota, have four games left to play before the start of the playoffs. Rachid Meziane, the Sun's coach, will be hoping for improved performances from players like Mamignan Touré, who scored 8 points, and Leïla Lacan, who contributed 6 points.

The New York Liberty, another team in the mix, lost to the Phoenix Mercury (80-63), with Marine Johannes scoring 4 points in 15 minutes. The Liberty, led by German players Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally, will be aiming to bounce back in their remaining games.

One team that has already secured a playoff spot is the Golden State Valkyries. Their French players, Janelle Salagnac and Carla Leite, have been instrumental in their success. Salagnac scored 20 points with a 7/11 shooting record (4/7 from three-point range), while Leite, who recently recovered from an ankle injury, scored 19 points in 15 minutes in a victory over the Washington Mystics (99-62).

However, it's worth noting that no French players have been identified as part of the Golden State Valkyries roster in the last four or five regular-season games before the playoffs.

Four teams have already qualified for the WNBA playoffs: Minnesota, Las Vegas Aces, Atlanta Dream, and Phoenix. Unfortunately, the Connecticut Sun have been eliminated from the regular season.

As the season enters its final stages, the races for playoff spots and individual team performances will undoubtedly provide exciting moments for WNBA fans.
