Jon Hopkins Praises Abbey Road Studios' Work: "Even Incredible"
Polestar, the electric performance brand, has launched a new in-car sound mode, Abbey Road Studios Mode, co-developed by Abbey Road Studios and Bowers & Wilkins. This latest innovation aims to elevate the listening experience in cars, replicating the sounds of Abbey Road Studios.
The collaboration with corto.alto, one of music's hottest up-and-coming jazz stars, was a significant part of the launch. corto.alto spent a day making music in the legendary Abbey Road Studio Two, with the goal of showcasing the depth of the new in-car listening experience offered by Abbey Road Studios Mode in Polestar 3.
In addition to this collaboration, Polestar has also partnered with Jon Hopkins, a Grammy-nominated composer, to create new music for the latest over-the-air music update for Abbey Road Studios Mode. Jon Hopkins was given the task of creating two new tracks for the Intimate and Expansive presets in Abbey Road Studios Mode.
The Unique Presets of Abbey Road Studios Mode
Abbey Road Studios Mode in Polestar 3 offers a unique in-car listening experience, allowing users to experience music as if they were in the studio itself. The mode features four unique presets: Intimate, Expansive, Open, and Energised, as well as a producer mode for customization.
The music created for the Intimate preset by Jon Hopkins is a subtle, contemplative piece that evokes the quiet and private feeling of being in one of Abbey Road's control rooms. On the other hand, the music created for the Expansive preset feels both vast and personal, simultaneously embracing space and detail. This approach was more improvisatory, aiming to capture the sound of Studio Two, a creative space at the centre of Britain's music scene since 1931.

corto.alto's collaboration with Polestar and Abbey Road Studios was to reimagine two of his tracks to showcase the unique sonic characteristics of Abbey Road Studios Mode in Polestar 3. For corto.alto, being in the Polestar 3 was a cool experience.
