Josh Reynolds of the Jets outperforms Sauce Gardner with a noteworthy catch during training camp
Training Camp Update: Injury for Justin Fields, New Drills Introduced
In a notable development during Sunday's training camp session with the New York Jets, quarterback Justin Fields was sidelined from participating in full 11-on-11 drills due to a dislocated toe. Despite this setback, Fields was able to take part in individual drills and 7-on-7s.
Coach Aaron Glenn introduced a new drill to the training regime, a one-on-one knockdown drill, and a one-on-one tackling drill, marking the first time these exercises have been incorporated this training camp.
In the 1-on-1 tackling drill, cornerback Sauce Gardner demonstrated his impressive skills, successfully standing up wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Gardner's defensive teammates celebrated the feat, highlighting the team camaraderie.
Meanwhile, in the team drills, wide receiver Josh Reynolds showcased his ability by catching a deep ball down the left sideline. However, the session was not without its mishaps, as running back Breece Hall dropped a pass during individual drills and later fumbled the ball during team drills.
Despite Fields' injury, Coach Glenn emphasised that they are "trying to ease Justin in" after his setback, ensuring a careful and measured approach to his return to full participation.
As the training camp continues, it will be interesting to see how these developments unfold and how the Jets' roster adapts to the new drills and the absence of Fields in certain drills.
