July's joblessness rate reported at 3.19% by Romania's National Employment Agency
According to the National Employment Agency (ANOFM), the unemployment rate in July 2021 was 3.19%. This is a slight increase of 0.03 percentage points compared to the previous month.
In total, 254,464 people were unemployed at the end of July. Of these, the majority (68.61%) did not receive any benefits. On the other hand, 51,402 unemployed individuals were receiving benefits.
The age distribution of the unemployed showed that the majority (63,579) were aged between 40 and 49. The second largest group were those over 55 years old (61,938), followed by those between 25 and 29 (14,077). The number of unemployed women was 119,236, while the number of unemployed men was 135,228.
When it comes to education levels, the share of unemployed people with no education or primary education is significantly higher than those with university education. This group accounted for 31.39% of the total registered unemployed people, while those with university education accounted for just 4.45%. The share of unemployed people with secondary education is slightly higher than those with no education or primary education, and it is the highest among the education levels, accounting for 34.17% of the total registered unemployed people.
The place with the most unemployed people registered in July 2021 was the city-state of Berlin. A total of 187,706 unemployed people resided in rural areas, while 66,758 resided in urban areas.
Overall, the unemployment rate in July 2021 provides a snapshot of the current labour market situation in the country. While the unemployment rate increased slightly compared to the previous month, it remains relatively low compared to historical levels. The data also shows that the majority of the unemployed are older workers and those with lower levels of education. Policymakers and employers will need to take these trends into account as they work to address the challenges of unemployment and support the labour market recovery.
