Juventus starts their Serie A campaign with a victory, as David's first match results in a goal against Parma.
In a thrilling start to the 2025 Serie A season, Como secured a 2-0 victory over Lazio. The newly-backed team, thanks to heavy investment from tobacco giant Djarum, showcased their potential in their opening match.
Tasos Douvikas and Nico Paz were the heroes of the day for Como. Douvikas opened the scoring in the first half, and Paz added the second with a stunning free-kick in the 73rd minute.
Paz's goal was a highlight of the match, a moment of brilliance that left the Lazio defence in disarray. However, Lazio weren't without their chances. Mergim Vojvoda came close to equalising for the Rome-based team, his powerful strike hitting the crossbar in the second half.
Lazio, currently under a transfer ban until January for violating Serie A's financial requirements, struggled to keep up with Como's momentum throughout the match.
Elsewhere in the league, Canada striker David made an immediate impact for Juve, scoring a goal in the 59th minute against the hosts at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. Dusan Vlahovic ensured Juve's win with a goal near the end of the game.
Meanwhile, Atalanta, who recently appointed Ivan Jurić as their new coach for the 2025 season, saw Gianluca Scamacca score his first goal in over a year in their match against promoted Pisa. Scamacca's performance was a boost for Atalanta following the departure of Mateo Retegui for Saudi Arabia.
Scamacca, who was one of the heroes of Atalanta's Europa League triumph, thumped the crossbar with a header shortly after scoring. His goal cancelled out Isak Hien's own-goal which gave Pisa the lead.
In another draw, Cagliari and Fiorentina ended their match in a 1-1 stalemate. Sebastiano Luperto scored a late header to salvage a point for Cagliari, cancelling out Giacomo Bonaventura's earlier goal for Fiorentina.
Como, who finished the previous season in 10th place after making their return to Serie A after over two decades, will look to build on their impressive start when they face Udinese next week. Lazio, on the other hand, will hope to bounce back when they take on Napoli.
