Kazakhstan Embraces AI and Digitalization: President Tokayev's Vision for Alatau City and Global Cooperation

Kazakhstan is making significant strides in its digital economy, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) technology. This week, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his support for China's initiative to create a Global Organization for Artificial Intelligence Cooperation at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin.

Yesterday, President Tokayev praised China's achievements in digitalization at a Kazakh-Chinese Business Council meeting in Beijing. Experts predict that the global AI market's share could reach 30% by 2033, and its volume may reach an impressive $5 trillion during the same period.

In line with this vision, Kazakhstan launched the first regional supercomputer this year and opened the International Artificial Intelligence Center AlemAI. President Tokayev also expressed his full support for the agreement between Kazakhstan and China State Construction Engineering Corporation, although details about the Chinese partner in the agreement for building Alatau City, a project designed to become a powerful national and regional center for innovation, development of the crypto industry, and technological entrepreneurship, have not been disclosed.

President Tokayev considers it necessary to start construction of Alatau City immediately and hopes for close cooperation with Chinese companies in its development. Alatau City is expected to receive the status of an independent ecosystem in the near future.

President Tokayev stressed the need for continued joint work in digitalization and reiterated his commitment to this partnership. His praise of China's digitalization efforts was reported by the President's press service, acknowledging China State Construction Engineering Corporation's role in Kazakhstan's digital transformation.

In summary, Kazakhstan is making concerted efforts to develop its digital economy, with a particular focus on AI technology. The country's vision for Alatau City, a project designed to become a leading center for innovation and technological entrepreneurship, is a testament to this commitment. President Tokayev's support for China's digitalization initiatives and his hope for close cooperation with Chinese companies underscore the importance of international collaboration in this rapidly evolving field.
