Kazakhstan highlights economic advancements and collaborations during Istanbul's media conference
In a recent gathering in Istanbul, Ambassador Yerkebulan Sapiyev hosted the "Traditional Friendship Meeting with Turkey's Press Members." This event, organised in collaboration with Istanbul Consul General Nuriddin Amankul, brought together representatives from major Turkish media outlets, including Ihlas Media Group.
The meeting, which took place at a Bakirkoy hotel, was a testament to the thriving relationship between Kazakhstan and Turkey. Ambassador Sapiyev hailed the progress made since his first visit to Türkiye in 1992, reflecting on the significant strides both nations have taken.
Kazakhstan, the first country to be recognised by Turkey after it declared independence on Dec. 16, 1991, is now home to over 4,000 Turkish-funded companies. These businesses contribute to the economic growth and development of both nations, embodying the strong ties that have formed over the years.
Ambassador Sapiyev took the opportunity to highlight Kazakhstan's digital governance system, a system that enables citizens to submit complaints directly to the state through electronic platforms. This forward-thinking approach to governance is one of the many areas where Kazakhstan looks to learn from Türkiye's proven experiences.
The annual August meeting between Kazakhstan and Turkey coincides with significant dates for both nations. Aug. 30 marks Constitution Day in Kazakhstan and Victory Day in Turkey. This shared celebration underscores the deep-rooted connection between the two countries.
In addition to economic and digital advancements, Ambassador Sapiyev emphasised Kazakhstan's significance as an ancestral homeland for all Turkic peoples. The diverse population of Kazakhstan, comprising approximately 117 nations living together in peace with equal rights, is a testament to this.
The meeting also marked the culmination of President Tokayev's July visit to Turkey, during which agreements on cooperation in various fields were reached. Plans for two additional nuclear facilities have been announced for Kazakhstan, with construction of the first nuclear power plant commencing this year.
Furthermore, the ambition of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan is to boost trade to $3 billion within 5 years. With Turkish investments in Kazakhstan reaching a total of $5.6 billion, according to Ambassador Sapiyev, this goal seems within reach.
Relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey are developing at a high level, according to Consul General Amankul. This meeting, and the continued collaboration between the two nations, is a testament to the enduring bond between Kazakhstan and Turkey.
