Kazakhstani residents granted access to Armenia using national identification documents
In a significant move toward fostering closer ties, Kazakhstan and Armenia have agreed to abolish their mutual visa regime and establish a comprehensive cooperation in the field of migration. This development was reported by Kazinform on Sept. 3.
The agreement, which was signed last year in Yerevan, aims to facilitate travel between the two countries and strengthen control to prevent illegal migration. Under the terms of the agreement, citizens of Armenia can now visit Kazakhstan with their national identification cards, while citizens of Kazakhstan can enter Armenia with their ID cards.
The agreement also regulates cooperation between responsible agencies for exchanging migration-related data. This will help ensure smooth and efficient border control and migration management. Moreover, the agreement establishes channels for secure data exchange to protect personal information.
The Mazhilis, the lower house of Kazakh Parliament, has ratified the agreement. The agreement abolishes the mutual visa regime and regulates cooperation in the field of migration between the two countries.
Stays beyond the initial 30 days in either country will require temporary residence permits. After 30 days of stay in either country, registration with local authorities is also mandatory. These measures are designed to maintain control and ensure that stays are legal and orderly.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs was responsible for leading the final negotiations between Kazakhstan and Armenia on abolishing the visa regime and cooperation in migration. The cooperation aims to strengthen control and prevent illegal migration, thereby enhancing the security of both countries.
As of the report, approximately 2,134 Armenian citizens are working in Kazakhstan. This agreement is expected to further boost economic and cultural ties between the two nations.
This development marks a significant step forward in the relationship between Kazakhstan and Armenia, and it is hoped that it will lead to increased cooperation and mutual understanding between the two nations.
