In the heart of the racing season, Newmarket's July course played host to a series of thrilling races, with several riders and horses making their mark. Here's a recap of some of the most notable victories.

Folkene, ridden by Jo Mason, made a winning debut for trainer Roger Fell in the 7f fillies' handicap, marking Mason's first victory on the July course. The ex-French-trained horse, Folkene, proved to be a surprise package, scoring on her first ever ride on the course.

Meanwhile, Dougie Costello rode Words Of Truth to victory in the 6f novice race, securing his second win at Newmarket this year. Words Of Truth, an 8-13 chance in the race, was backed up by market support and claimed his first win after a penalty. The victory also marked Words Of Truth's first on the July course.

Elsewhere, Sioux Perfect, ridden by Archie Watson and William Cox, won the Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes. Sioux Perfect, a 33-1 chance in the race, pulled off an impressive win, giving Archie Watson and William Cox their first victory in the event. The race, which was shortened this year to 2m1f (from 3m6f) due to the lack of rain, had a healthy crowd of nearly 15,000, many of whom were in for The Sugarbabes post-race concert.

Tim Vaughan's wife Abbi finished runner-up on Reina Del Mar in the Newmarket Town Plate, while Tim Vaughan himself finished fourth on early front-runner Polemon in the same race. Tim Vaughan's daughter Grace finished third on Designer Destiny in the same event, making it a family affair in the Plate, which was staged in honor of the late Valda Embiricos. Keiran Burke won the 355th running of the Newmarket Town Plate on Chedington's Quest.

In the leaderboards, Charlie Appleby and Godolphin continue to dominate, leading the way at Newmarket for 2025.

These wins showcased the excitement and unpredictability that racing at Newmarket's July course offers, with several riders and horses making their mark in the racing calendar.
