Kharge Issues Alarming Call for Congress Party's Revival

Congress Party Faces Existential Crisis, President Issues Call to Action

The Indian National Congress, once a dominant force in the country's politics, is currently experiencing a crisis. The party has drawn a blank in the Delhi elections for the third successive time, marking a significant slide since the Lok Sabha polls in 2019.

In an effort to recapture its past glory, the party's president, Mallikarjun Kharge, has delivered a stern message to party leaders. The message emphasized accountability and commitment to the party's ideology, as well as the importance of mobilizing people's support and fighting for people's issues.

One of the key challenges facing the Congress party is the top-heavy structure that typically sees directions coming from the top down. Regional leaders have faced challenges in communicating with the high command, and this chasm between the top and state leaders needs to be closed.

From now on, Congress office-bearers will be held accountable for poll results, a shift from the party's previous functioning where accountability was not a priority. The top leaders, traditionally from the Nehru-Gandhi family, have been struggling with communication within the party, as demonstrated by a recent event in Kerala involving Shashi Tharoor.

The BJP, the ruling party, has been winning polls by working diligently upwards from the booth level. This serves as a wake-up call for the Congress party, which needs to work hard to regain its lost ground and become a more effective Opposition in a functioning democracy.

To this end, the party needs to focus on mobilizing people's support and addressing people's issues. It must be more open to the freedom of expression of views and get in touch with the people again to act as a more effective Opposition. The Congress party needs to cover much ground to regain its former stature and play a vital role in Indian democracy.

The president's call to action serves as a reminder that the Congress party must not give up on mobilizing people's support and fighting for people's issues for years to come. The party needs to introspect why it has been facing a significant slide and take steps to address these issues if it is to regain its stature and become a more effective Opposition.
