Streaming giants like Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, and Amazon Prime are also present, hinting at potential collaborations and exclusive content in the near future.
One of the most anticipated games of the event is "Death by Scrolling," developed by Terrible Toybox, led by gaming legend Ron Gilbert. The trailer for this game offers a touch of nostalgia, with its retro look reminiscent of gaming 30 years ago. The game is set to hit the market in the coming months or in 2026, aiming to generate fan interest and boost purchasing intent.
Ron Gilbert, who achieved gaming success with "Monkey Island" in the 90s, provides a quirky twist to "Death by Scrolling." The game's visuals, though reminiscent of the past, are enhanced by modern technology, offering a unique gaming experience.
Nintendo is also making waves at the event, promoting the Switch 2 console. The console is expected to offer improved graphics and gameplay, making it a must-have for Nintendo fans.
Another exciting game being showcased is "Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight." The trailer features the Lego characters' fights in a comical manner, promising a fun and engaging gameplay experience.
The event also saw the unveiling of the second season of the post-apocalyptic action series "Fallout." Ella Purnell and Aaron Moten are the main actors in this season, which was revealed by Amazon Prime at the opening show.
The gaming industry is dynamic, as highlighted by Geoff Keighley, the host of the opening show. He emphasised the visual improvements thanks to new technology, transforming the gaming landscape and offering immersive experiences to players.
In addition to these games, the "Resident Evil" horror classic is returning in a remake called "Requiem," featuring a survival battle against the undead. The strategy challenge "World of Warcraft - Midnight" was also previewed, featuring a battle of elves against brutal creatures.
The shooter game "Call of Duty - Black Ops 7" was also showcased, sending up to four players into an apocalyptic future to withstand both physical and psychological challenges.
The Gamescom event is expected to attract similar numbers to the 2024 event, where around 335,000 visitors attended. With such a vast array of games on offer, it's no wonder that gamers from around the world are eagerly anticipating this event.
