Kicks off tournament with a victory: Kuwait's challenge in ICC CWC League A starts with a 22-run triumph over Qatar

In the opening match of the ICC CWC Challenge League A 2024-26, Kuwait emerged victorious against Qatar, securing a 22-run victory. The match was played with Kuwait batting first after captain Mohamed Aslam won the toss.

The Kuwait innings saw some impressive performances. Meet Bhavsar was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, scoring a magnificent 129 off 140 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes. His performance was instrumental in the recovery of the Kuwait innings. Alongside Bhavsar, Ravija Sandaruwan also contributed significantly.

The innings' turning point was a 181-run partnership between Bhavsar and Ali Zaheer. Zaheer scored 99 runs before falling short of a century, hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes. This partnership provided the impetus Kuwait needed to post a challenging total of 299/7 in 50 overs.

Anudeep, bowling for Qatar, managed to remove Asim, a crucial wicket that shifted the momentum in Kuwait's favour. However, Yasin Patel and Shafeeq bowled well for Kuwait, applying pressure on Qatar's chase. Shareeq bowled tight middle overs for Kuwait, further tightening the noose around Qatar's chase.

Kuwait's bowling attack was led by Shafeeq, who took 3 wickets for 47 runs in 10 overs, with 2 maidens. Anudeep bagged 2 wickets for 52 runs, while Shiraz took 1 wicket for Kuwait.

Despite a solid effort from Amin, who looked set but was run out, Qatar fell short by 22 runs in their chase against Kuwait.
