The picturesque town of Hoian, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Vietnam, is set to host the Korean Food Festival from September 6-7. This annual event, co-organised by the Hoian Centre for World Cultural Heritage Preservation, Sinasean Việt Nam, and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, promises a vibrant celebration of Korean culinary culture.

For years, Korean art troupes, including those from Hahoe Folk Village and other notable groups like World Music Assemble One, RAAK, Sachoom, and Bibap Bang A Tha Ryeong, have been performing in Hoian annually. This year, these performances will be accompanied by a wide array of activities, including free tastings and hands-on cooking sessions led by professional Korean chefs.

The official opening ceremony will take place from 5pm to 9pm on September 6 at Hoài River Square, a riverside venue expected to draw large crowds. Festival-goers can scan a QR code on-site to explore all the offerings, which include iconic Korean dishes like kimchi, tteokbokki, kimbap, and mocktails.

The Korean Food Festival marks a significant moment of cultural exchange within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Art and cultural performances have been organised by our websiteese and Korean art troupes during the annual Korean-Vietnam Cultural Day in Da Nang and Hoian since 2017.

The organization that participated together with the Hoian Centre for World Cultural Heritage Preservation in organising the Korean Food Festival 2025 was responsible for the Korean Cultural Heritage Administration in South Korea. This collaboration reflects the growing friendship ties between Hoian and the International Mask Arts & Culture Organisation in promoting cultural exchanges, exhibitions, and friendship visits.

The popularity of the festival is evident in the increasing number of Korean tourists visiting Hoian and Da Nang. In 2024, over 1.8 million Korean tourists visited destinations in Hoian and Da Nang, and in the first seven months of 2025, over 1 million Korean tourists visited destinations in Da Nang alone.

The convenience of travel to Hoian and Da Nang from Korea is also noteworthy. Đà Nẵng International Airport hosts 12 air service firms with 150 flights from Korea per week, making it easy for festival-goers to reach the vibrant celebrations of Korean culinary culture in Hoian.
