Kuwait redefines its security framework, intolerant of infractions

Under the leadership of Sheikh Fahed Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Kuwait is undergoing a significant security transformation. This transformation aims to restore law and order, national integrity, and public confidence in the strength and integrity of state institutions.

In this campaign, more than 150 clandestine alcohol production operations have been shut down, and over 500 bootleggers and distributors have been arrested. April 2025 saw the dismantling of 30 factories manufacturing spurious alcohol, and over 1,000 suspects were apprehended. Advanced monitoring and scanning technologies have been implemented at Kuwait's ports and airports to enhance border security.

The Interior Ministry, under Sheikh Fahed's leadership, has emphasized transparency, fairness, and accountability in its functioning. A permanent committee dedicated to verifying family lineage has been created to ensure the integrity of Kuwaiti nationality is restored and preserved.

Sheikh Fahed has been leading an unprecedented and sustained campaign against forged Kuwaiti citizenships, considered a grave threat to the nation's social and political fabric. Approximately 50,000 citizenships have been revoked since the launch of the review in 2025. More than 500 visa traffickers have been arrested since Sheikh Fahed assumed office, and thousands of fraudulent permits have been canceled.

Regional and international cooperation has been strengthened under Sheikh Fahed's direction, leading to enhanced intelligence-sharing and disrupted cross-border criminal activity. This cooperation has been instrumental in the dismantling of a regional smuggling network at Shuwaikh port in February 2025, resulting in the seizure of 1.3 million narcotic pills.

By August 2025, over 3,200 arrests were made in relation to narcotics trafficking, including high-profile traffickers and over 150 local distribution dens. Thousands of labor and residency violation suspects have been apprehended through large-scale inspection campaigns.

Sheikh Fahed has curbed security violations, restored order, and revived public confidence in the strength and integrity of state institutions. Public awareness campaigns have improved pedestrian safety, and over 500,000 traffic violations were recorded, thousands of vehicles seized for dangerous conduct.

Technology has been central to the Interior Ministry's vision, with the implementation of biometric systems, digital case management, and smart applications. These technologies have streamlined processes, increased efficiency, and improved the overall functionality of the ministry.

However, it is important to note that there are no specific publicly available reports or credible sources currently naming particular Kuwaiti government officials under investigation for involvement in law violations related to citizenship review. This campaign against crime and corruption is a collective effort, and accountability extends not only to the forgers but also to those who benefited from the fraud and any collaborators within government institutions.

Kuwait is undergoing a remarkable transformation under the leadership of Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. The efforts spearheaded by Sheikh Fahed Al-Yousef Al-Sabah are a testament to the commitment of these leaders to a safer, fairer, and more accountable Kuwait.
