Article Title: August Cultural Extravaganza at Los Angeles

Los Angeles, the vibrant cultural destination, is celebrating its 7th anniversary this month with a series of captivating events. Among the highlights are a flavorful talk and tasting on Edo-period cuisine, a hands-on kokedama workshop, and a guided experience on the history of sake.

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., the kokedama workshop will take place at our website Salon, Level 5. This workshop is designed for plant lovers and aims to encourage botanical creativity while providing a tactile connection to Japanese traditions. Participants are encouraged to bring their own hand towel for the workshop. The Japanese art of kokedama (moss ball) will be explored as participants learn how to bind moss, shape soil, and wrap roots to create their own "living artwork". The fee for the workshop is $40 (inclusive of taxes and materials).

Chef Kazuma Yamasaki will prepare authentic Edo-period-inspired cuisine for a tasting event. The featured dishes for the tasting include shiraae, oshizushi, and seasonal tempura. This culinary journey promises to be a delight for food enthusiasts.

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., the Japanese art historian Meher McArthur will lead a talk on the dynamic role of sake in Japanese culture and art. The talk will give an overview of the exquisite art forms that have evolved around sake. A curated tasting experience featuring five distinctive regional sakes will follow the talk. Please note that participants must be 21 years of age and up for the sake tasting event.

In addition to these events, Los Angeles is also hosting a special pop-up featuring BONMAX's TORIAGURACHO line, inspired by Edo art. The BONMAX pop-up features nine unique T-shirt designs with raised white ink that brings Edo art to life on modern apparel.

As the city welcomes its one-millionth visitor, these events promise to showcase the rich cultural heritage and vibrant spirit that Los Angeles is known for. Join us for a unique cultural experience this August!
