Vodafone Expands 5G Network in Germany, Eliminating Dead Zones
Vodafone, one of Germany's leading communications conglomerates, continues to drive infrastructure expansion in the country. The company recently unveiled a new 5G mobile base station in Niederdreisbach, eliminating a dead zone in mobile broadband coverage and bringing the latest technology to millions of people.
The new station, part of Vodafone's nationwide cable-fiber network, now reaches two-thirds of all German households with gigabit speed. Seventeen of these stations also have the broadband technology 5G on board, enabling 5G coverage to around 74% of the inhabited areas in the district.
The new antennas in Niederdreisbach support the latest variants of the emergency call technology AML and the disaster warning system Cell Broadcast. This means that emergency calls and disaster warnings can now be made from the area, providing vital communications in times of need.
Vodafone's Chief Technology Officer, Tanja Richter, stated that the mobile network is important for the local economy and jobs, and for the population's quality of life. The company currently operates 41 mobile base stations in the district, of which 39 are equipped with the mobile broadband technology LTE.
In the next 12 months, the cities of Frankfurt and Munich will receive two new mobile base stations from Vodafone's expansion plan, with the aim of improving the mobile broadband network. The company also plans to implement two more mobile construction projects in the district by mid-2026 to close dead zones, strengthen the existing network, and expand the 5G network.
Vodafone's commitment to diversity is deeply rooted in its corporate culture, promoting work-life balance and networks for various groups, including women, fathers, and LGBT+. The company respects and values all people, regardless of their ethnic origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, belief, culture, or religion.
In addition to its infrastructure expansion, Vodafone is also focused on reducing its carbon footprint. The company aims to be carbon neutral by 2025 and emissions-free by 2040, with 100% of its electricity needs already covered by renewable energies.
With an annual turnover of approximately 13 billion euros and around 15,000 employees, Vodafone continues to play a significant role in Germany's communications sector. The new mobile base station in Niederdreisbach is just one example of the company's ongoing efforts to connect people and improve the quality of life for millions of Germans.
