"Labour Party Argues That Rhodes-Vivour's Actions Were Hasty; He Should Have Mirrored Peter Obi's Strategy"

In a surprising turn of events, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a prominent figure within the Labour Party (LP), has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This decision, according to Tony Akeni, the interim National Publicity Secretary of the LP, was described as hasty and ill-advised.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Akeni maintained that Rhodes-Vivour's choice to quit the party was not the way forward. He expressed that the Labour Party wishes Rhodes-Vivour well in his political career, but believes that he has yet to learn essentials in his political journey.

Akeni argued that Rhodes-Vivour failed to imbibe the political approach of Peter Obi, the LP's 2023 presidential candidate. It was already a settled consensus within the LP that no single opposition party, including itself, could single-handedly dislodge the APC in 2027, according to Akeni. The Labour Party, therefore, believes a multi-party coalition is necessary to sack the APC and President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Peter Obi, in alignment with this multi-party approach, has been engaging opposition parties without leaving the LP, according to Akeni. However, the statement does not mention any plans for Rhodes-Vivour to meet with Peter Obi or the LP post-defection.

Rhodes-Vivour, on the other hand, has found a strong coalition in the ADC, which he believes represents a formidable force to rescue Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections. The details of his political mentor's involvement in this transition remain unclear, as the search results do not identify the individual who worked for Rhodes-Vivour in the Labour Party before moving to the African Democratic Congress.

This news comes amidst ongoing political maneuverings and alliances ahead of the 2027 elections. The public will continue to watch as these developments unfold.
