Lamborghini unveils the Tri-colored Gallardo: Officially debuted

The Italian luxury car manufacturer, Lamborghini, has announced the release of a special edition model, the Gallardo Tricolore, at the L.A. Auto Show. This one-off creation, inspired by the Italian flag, is based on the LP550-2 Balboni and is expected to celebrate 150 years of Italian Unification.

The Gallardo Tricolore boasts a unique paint job, featuring a red and green stripe bisected by white, reminiscent of the Italian flag. This distinctive design could potentially appeal to patriotic Italians and may serve as an attempt to boost sales of rear-wheel drive Lamborghinis, as nothing else has done so far.

Under the hood, the Gallardo Tricolore is equipped with a powerful 550hp engine, similar to its predecessor, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder. It is a rear-wheel drive model, following in the footsteps of the Balboni Limited Edition.

The idea for the production of the Gallardo Tricolore originated from Valentino Balboni, Lamborghini's longtime test driver, who is considered legendary among aficionados. There is a possibility that Lamborghini may turn the Tricolore into a limited edition, given its unique appeal and the success of previous limited editions like the Balboni Limited Edition.

It is worth noting that the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder, a drop-top version of the rear-wheel drive Gallardo, is also set to be unveiled at the L.A. Auto Show. The 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo marks the final model of the Gallardo series, making the Tricolore a significant addition to the brand's history.

With the Gallardo Tricolore, Lamborghini continues to push the boundaries of automotive design and performance, offering a unique blend of Italian heritage and high-performance engineering. Whether it becomes a limited edition or remains a one-off model, the Gallardo Tricolore is sure to capture the hearts of Lamborghini enthusiasts worldwide.
