Latest Development in the 2026 Corolla Hatchback from Toyota Incorporates Design Elements from the 1980s
The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Toyota unveils the latest addition to its Corolla Hatchback lineup – the limited-run FX Edition. This special model pays homage to the legendary Corolla FX16 from the late 1980s, offering a unique blend of retro charm and modern features.
Priced at a starting MSRP of $26,780, the FX Edition marks a $2,000 increase over its predecessor, the Nightshade trim, which has now been discontinued. The base SE, priced at $24,180, sees a modest $400 increase from its previous MSRP.
The FX Edition stands out with its gloss black roof spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss white, and black lug nuts. It also boasts a vintage-style emblem on the tailgate and contrasting orange stitching on the seats, door panels, steering wheel, and gear shifter, adding a touch of elegance to its design.
Inside, the FX Edition's digital cockpit is equipped with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system. The model comes standard with the 10-way Sport Touring heated driver's seat with black upholstery and suede inserts, ensuring comfort for the driver.
The Corolla Hatchback continues to use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 169 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a Dynamic Shift CVT.
The 2026 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is offered in SE, FX Edition, and XSE trims. The top-tier XSE is priced just $95 more than its previous model. All Corolla Hatchback trims come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
