Latest Update on Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Kenosha Construction Progress

Hey there! I'm pumped to share some exciting updates on the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Kenosha project, a game-changer for the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and the broader Kenosha community.

As Chair of the Menominee Tribe, I'm eager to share our optimism for this project, symbolizing growth and economic resurgence for us and the surrounding area. The project is set to deliver a multitude of benefits, from job creation to community development and attracting tourists from far and wide.

We've progressed significantly in securing federal approval for the project, with a detailed Environmental Assessment (EA) submitted to the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) back in 2024. The EA received revisions, and it was finalized and sent to the BIA Office of Indian Gaming (OIG) last November. Public comment on the EA will be solicited soon, giving the community another chance to engage with the benefits this project will bring.

Collaborating with the Trump Administration has been instrumental in this process. We anticipate a quick review by OIG, given the administration's focus on job creation and rule process streamlining. With the Governor's support and the widespread backing for the project, we're optimistic about seeing it become a reality sooner rather than later.

Let's dive into the particulars: the project proposals a state-of-the-art casino and hotel that promises to bring construction jobs and over a thousand permanent positions once fully built. Additionally, we estimate that it will draw more than 2.4 million visitors annually, generating significant revenue for the local economy and boosting patronage among surrounding businesses.

Crucially, for the Menominee Tribe, this project represents more than just a business venture. It's an opportunity to address pressing challenges faced by our almost 9,000 tribal members, like enhancing essential infrastructure, education, and healthcare on our reservation, which ranks among the poorest nationwide. Our aspirations are to emerge as major job generators and exemplars of economic empowerment in Wisconsin.

Stay tuned for further updates as we navigate the final stages of approval. You can follow the project's progress at casino.hardrock.com/Kenosha. Together, we can bring this transformative project to life and enjoy the myriad benefits it'll bring to the Kenosha community, the state of Wisconsin, and the Menominee Indian Tribe.

Cheers,

Joey Awonohopay

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Kenosha project is projected to have a substantial impact on the local economy, with an estimated $360 million total new development cost, including roughly $104 million in construction payroll and almost 1,000 construction jobs for an 18-month period. Once fully built, the casino and hotel are expected to employ over a thousand people, generating approximately $21 million in annual payroll taxes.

Additionally, the project could create substantial indirect and induced economic effects, with over $352 million in annual impact on Kenosha County alone and nearly $492 million for the State of Wisconsin as a whole. Nearly 51% of the annual purchases for goods and services for the project's operations are anticipated to come from in-state vendors, while the project is estimated to attract over 2.4 million annual visitors, with nearly 1.6 million originating from outside Wisconsin.

The proposed project will encompass a Hard Rock Hotel featuring 150 rooms, a Hard Rock Cafe, and a Hard Rock Live venue. Additional amenities include a gaming area with about 1,500 slot machines and an estimated 50 table games, seven restaurants, three bars, and a retail gift shop. The project design will mirror other Hard Rock casinos and resorts, offering a consistent decor, memorabilia, service standards, gifts, retail, entertainment events, and promotions.
