Latest updates in iOS 26's Podcasts application
In an exciting update, Apple Inc. has introduced version 26 of its Podcasts app for iOS, bringing a host of new features and a fresh design to the popular audio platform.
One of the most notable changes is the introduction of a new feature called "Dialog Enhancement." This feature aims to make voices clearer over background noise, making listening to podcasts an even more enjoyable experience. To activate Dialog Enhancement, users simply need to open the full-screen playback controls, tap the "1x" speed button, and then select "Dialog Enhancement."
The updated Podcasts app also boasts a sleek, modern look. With a new "Liquid Glass" transparent design, UI elements appear glass-like, allowing the background to peek through. This gives the app a more contemporary feel and enhances the overall user experience.
Buttons in the app now have a rounded design, adding to the app's aesthetic appeal. The navigation bar no longer spans the entire bottom edge, providing a cleaner, more streamlined look.
The playback control speed options have been expanded, now ranging from 0.5x to 3x. Users can select a playback speed by tapping pre-set options or by dragging their finger over the desired speed. A dial now appears in the playback control, allowing for 0.1 speed adjustments, offering greater precision.
The app also remembers the dialog enhancement setting and the playback speed for each podcast, ensuring a personalised listening experience.
Other changes include the search bar being moved to the bottom and the "Search" tab being replaced with "New" on iOS 26. These changes make it easier for users to find new podcasts and navigate the app.
