"Latest Version of Kali 2025.2 Features Enhanced Visuals with GNOME 48, KDE 6, and More Improvements"
Kali Linux 2025.2 and KDE Plasma 6.3 have been released, each bringing new features and improvements for users.
Kali Linux 2025.2
Kali Linux 2025.2, developed by the team behind Kali Linux, offers a range of enhancements. This latest release is powered by Linux kernel 6.12 and is available on platforms such as Bluesky and PeerTube.
New tools included in Kali Linux 2025.2 are AzureHound, CRLFuzz, Gitxray, Rubeus, and the recently updated BloodHound Community Edition. Xclip has also been added, providing automatic terminal output transfers to the clipboard.
The menu layout in Kali Linux 2025.2 has been updated, grouping tools by how attackers operate, based on the MITRE ATT&CK framework. Kali Linux remains specifically aimed at cybersecurity tasks such as penetration testing, digital forensics, and reverse engineering.
Upgrade Process
For existing users, the upgrade process involves obtaining the new signing key, starting the upgrade process, copying default configuration files to the home directory, and rebooting. If issues arise during the upgrade process, it is recommended to consult the upgrade guide.
KDE Plasma 6.3
KDE Plasma 6.3, offered as an alternative in Kali Linux 2025.2, comes with several new features. Clone Panels, better support for fractional scaling, and more accurate colours when using Night Light are among the additions.
The System Monitor app in KDE Plasma 6.3 provides more accurate CPU usage reporting and improved battery, GPU, and printer reporting. Notification stacking, support for HDR monitors, a Wellbeing feature for setting screen time limits, and a new VPN IP extension developed by a community contributor are other new features in GNOME 48, which is included in Kali Linux 2025.2.
Additional Features
Three new community wallpapers have been added to Kali Linux 2025.2. Wireless injection on the TicWatch Pro 3 is now possible via Kali NetHunter. New download mirrors have been added in India and South Korea (however, the Korean mirror may not work if using a VPN).
Kali Linux 2025.2 is the second major release of 2025, marking another step forward in the continuous evolution of these powerful tools for cybersecurity professionals.
