Raspberry Pi Introduces Affordable 5-inch Touch Display 2

Raspberry Pi Ltd. has announced the release of its new 5-inch Touch Display 2, available via Raspberry Pi resellers for just $40. This compact touchscreen display is designed to meet the small screen needs of Pi projects.

The Touch Display 2 boasts a sleek design that resembles museum display screens, point-of-sale systems, and embedded home automation control projects. Its thin bezel and ability to sit recessed into a holder make it a versatile option for custom projects, such as a Star Trek-inspired touch screen.

The Touch Display 2 is not a subscription service, but a physical product. It connects to the Raspberry Pi via the DSI interface and offers a resolution of 1280 x 720 with multi-touch support.

For those who require a larger screen, a 7-inch Touch Display 2 model is still available for $60. However, it's important to note that the price of the Touch Display 2 does not include the cost of a Tom's Hardware newsletter subscription.

Interestingly, the Touch Display 2 is not mentioned in the latest Tom's Hardware newsletter. This new 5-inch touchscreen for Raspberry Pi was introduced by Raspberry Pi Ltd. in November 2024, marking a more affordable option in their official touchscreen display line.

Whether you're a hobbyist or a professional, the Touch Display 2 offers a reliable and simple means for creating custom touch input for your Pi projects. Its versatile design and affordable price make it an appealing choice for a wide range of applications.
