Law Enforcement Actions in the Outskirts of New Town

On the 5th of September, a significant police operation took place in Dresden's Outer New Town. The operation was in response to a 38-year-old man from the far-right scene announcing his intention to meet with companions in the New Town.

The day began with two groups gathering in the Outer New Town. One group, associated with the far-right scene, had gathered at the Scheune square, while opponents had called for a gathering on the Scheune square in opposition to the man's meeting. Protesters against the far-right group also gathered at the Alaunplatz.

As the day progressed, both groups moved back and forth through the Alaunpark. A six-member group from the far-right spectrum arrived at the Alaunplatz, and a conflict ensued at Wiener Platz, where a 19-year-old man was lightly injured.

The police, accompanied by the 38-year-old man from the far-right extremist scene, intervened in the confrontation. A police barrier was used to separate both groups at Tannenstraße. The police ensured that the groups were separated, and the far-right group subsequently left the area.

It was not the first time the man had announced such a meeting; it had occurred two and four weeks earlier. The Dresden Police Headquarters was supported by the Saxon riot police during the operation. In total, 72 officers were on duty during the incident.

The police operation on the 5th of September in the Outer New Town was likely due to potential conflict between the 38-year-old man and his opponents. The gathering on the Scheune square was a response to the man's announced meeting with companions in the New Town.

The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions in society and the role of law enforcement in maintaining peace and order. The police continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens in Dresden.
