Law Enforcement Conducts Vehicle Inspections on Transportation Vehicles
Police in Recklinghausen Crack Down on Commercial Vehicle Infringements
On Friday, August 8, 2022, the Recklinghausen police headquarters, in collaboration with a wider team including statewide partners such as customs and the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM), conducted vehicle checks across the Recklinghausen district and the city of Bottrop.
The checks, which are part of statewide control measures for monitoring commercial passenger and goods transport, aimed to ensure compliance with driving and rest times of drivers, load securing regulations, and other safety standards.
A total of 201 vehicles were inspected during the checks. Regrettably, 99 vehicles with infringements had to be identified in Recklinghausen district and Bottrop. Overloading and inadequate load securing can lead to unintended reactions that can result in serious accidents, emphasised Police President Friederike Zurhausen.
Seven vehicles were prohibited from continuing their journey due to infringements. Criminal offenses related to the manipulation of tachographs can result in fines and even imprisonment, as explained by Friederike Zurhausen. However, no indications of manipulation of the tachograph were found in any of the inspected vehicles.
The correct securing of loads is crucial for road safety, according to Police President Zurhausen. Many trucks and buses were able to continue their journey after a brief check without any defects.
Updates on these and future control measures can be followed on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. For press inquiries, please contact the Recklinghausen police headquarters' press office at [email protected] or 02361 55 1044.
