Law enforcement detains inebriated motorists
In the small town of Weißwasser, on August 14, 2025, an unusual incident unfolded at the intersection of Moerser Straße/Feldstraße. A 21-year-old German man, the owner of an Opel, found himself in hot water after allowing someone without a driving license to operate his vehicle.
The drama began when the driver of the Opel, under the influence of cannabis and alcohol, activated the emergency lights and failed to react to stop signals. This caught the attention of the local police, who stopped the vehicle.
Upon stopping the car, officers noticed an alcohol odour emanating from the driver. A breathalyzer test confirmed that the driver was over the limit for absolute intoxication. The driver, however, did not have a driver's license or ID on him.
The owner of the Opel, who was present at the scene, admitted to allowing the unlicensed individual to drive his car. The driver was subsequently taken to his residence, where he produced his ID for the officers. A doctor then drew blood from the driver at the police station.
The 21-year-old owner of the Opel can also expect a summons for his part in the incident. The driver now faces charges for driving without a license and drunk driving. He was later taken to the Ruhrort police station for further investigation.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving and adhering to traffic laws. It also highlights the consequences of allowing an unlicensed individual to operate a vehicle, potentially putting lives at risk.
