In an unusual turn of events, a Syrian citizen from Itzehoe was arrested by the Elmshorn police on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, following a traffic stop in Wedenkamp.

According to a report by Presseportal.de, the suspect presented a forged driver's license with another person's photo and false personal details during the stop of a Mercedes Sprinter. The officers, however, found a blank-firing weapon in the vehicle, leading to further investigations.

Upon further police procedures at the station, the man was identified as a 21-year-old Syrian citizen living in Itzehoe. The press inquiries should be directed to the Police Directorate Bad Segeberg - Press Office, located at Dorfstr. 16-18, 23795 Bad Segeberg. Their contact details are as follows: Telephone: 04551-884-2020, Email: [email protected].

The suspect claimed to be a commercial package driver but could not provide any proof of his activities or records of driving and rest times. This has led to administrative proceedings being initiated under the Driver and Rest Periods Act for the suspect.

In addition, proceedings were initiated for the suspect for giving false name details. The search results do not specify the individual's name or the exact date of this arrest.

Several foreign personal documents were discovered in the vehicle, and the suspect will face multiple charges under the Weapons Act, for driving without a license, and forgery.

The suspect was later released from the police station, but the investigation is still ongoing. The public is reminded to always provide accurate information and to comply with traffic laws to ensure safety for all road users.
