Dortmund Police Crack Down on Illegal Activities

In a week-long crackdown, the Dortmund Police, under the "Fokus" presence concept, have been actively ensuring citizen safety. The intensified presence measures aim to strengthen the sense of security among the population and prevent crime and traffic offenses.

The week began with a significant incident on Tuesday (26th August), when a 38-year-old was found with a unit of cocaine in the city garden. The cocaine was secured, and subsequent inspections of a dealer led to the seizure of 15 units of marijuana and cash. However, the exact location of the incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as the location of the basement shaft where narcotics were found, were not specified.

On Saturday evening, the Wallring was heavily frequented, with approximately 250 vehicles of the "Wallszene" detected at peak times. A checkpoint was set up on the outer wall of the Wallring between 23:30 and 01:00, during which 72 vehicle drivers were checked. A drug-sniffing dog found and secured narcotics in a basement shaft during the inspections.

Civil police officers also observed an apparent drug deal at the North exit of Dortmund's main station. During identity checks, one person was found to be violating spatial restrictions, and a criminal proceeding was initiated against them.

On Wednesday (27th August), a person carrying a knife was checked in the area of the Café Kick, and the knife was secured. A criminal proceeding was initiated, and an examination for the imposition of a knife-carrying ban according to the Dortmund knife concept is being carried out. Another person, for whom a warrant for arrest existed, was handed over to the prison on Tuesday.

The police also initiated an investigation procedure for the illegal trafficking of narcotics after another person was found with narcotics, suggesting trafficking. No prior context was provided, but it can be inferred that these incidents are related to law enforcement activities in Dortmund.

In total, from the 22nd to the 27th of August, 311 people and 87 vehicles were checked, resulting in 146 bans and 16 criminal charges. 39 warning fines were imposed and eight administrative offense proceedings were initiated during the checkpoint.

The Dortmund Police will continue its presence measures to maintain a strengthened sense of security among the population and to prevent crime and traffic offenses. Journalists with inquiries can contact the Dortmund Police at the provided contact information.
