Law enforcement in Las Vegas secures attempted murder suspect through the application of a grappler device

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has unveiled a new tool in their arsenal against crime - the Grappler. This modern lariat, as some have described it on social media, is a modified bull bar that shoots netting around a vehicle's rear tire and axle.

On Wednesday, the LVMPD revealed the Grappler in action, with the device being used to apprehend a dangerous suspect. Vincent Farmer, accused of carjacking and attempted murder, was the first to feel the effects of this innovative technology.

In a high-speed scenario in a busy traffic environment, the Grappler latched onto Farmer's vehicle at speed, bringing the suspect to a stop in seconds. The LVMPD praised the device, stating that it allowed them to successfully and peacefully resolve a dangerous situation.

Farmer is also wanted for attempted murder in Nye County. He is alleged to have carjacked his ex-girlfriend by pushing her out of her vehicle. The LVMPD's use of the Grappler was described as a successful and peaceful resolution of a dangerous situation.

The Grappler has been likened to the Batmobile by some social media users, while others have described it as "the car wrangler." Regardless of the comparisons, the device's design and functionality have proven to be effective in apprehending suspects.

The LVMPD has posted a video of the Grappler's "pursuit intervention device" takedown of Vincent Farmer on X. This marks the first public demonstration of the Grappler in action, and it is expected that the device will be used more frequently in the future to apprehend suspects and maintain public safety.
