A wild, chaotic crime spree had the city of Las Vegas reeling, as a 19-year-old local, Aerion Warmsley, was arrested for a series of violent acts, including the murder of Na'Onche Osborne, the son of a former Nevada State Senator.
The festivities took a dark turn when Warmsley gunned down Osborne on the floor of the Aliente Casino, a property owned by Boyd Gaming. In an astonishing turn of events, Warmsley didn't stop his rampage there.
Federal prosecutors have now added a heavy load to Warmsley's plate, indicting him on multiple accounts related to carjacking, brandishing a firearm, and reckless driving. According to KTNV-TV/Las Vegas court records, Warmsley now faces two counts of carjacking resulting in serious bodily injury, three counts of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and one count of carjacking.
These Federal charges came as a surprise, considering his busy schedule of numerous state charges he's already grappling with. The state charges include murder, battery, robbery, reckless driving, and kidnapping, among other serious allegations.
The carjacking spree began after the deadly shooting at Aliente Casino. Warmsley is alleged to have stolen two Mercedes-Benz vehicles and a Kia SUV using violence and intimidation tactics. One of these high-speed chases led to a crash around 30 minutes after the shooting, before Warmsley seized another vehicle at gunpoint and abandoned it in a fast-food restaurant.
In yet another audacious move, Warmsley allegedly carjacked a third vehicle, speeding off with the innocent driver behind the wheel, all while being pursued by law enforcement and a helicopter. The high-speed chase reached terrifying speeds of over 105 mph, crashing into a bus stop at Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue, injuring at least two innocent bystanders, causing a brain bleed and multiple fractures.
The mayhem continued until police rammed Warmsley's car and apprehended him around 9 a.m., a whopping five and a half hours after he fled Aliante.
Warmsley is scheduled for a preliminary hearing for his state charges on May 5, and his federal arraignment is set for May 13 at the Lloyd D. George U.S. Courthouse in Las Vegas.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the darker side of Las Vegas, where the city's glamour and entertainment can be shattered by senseless acts of violence.
