Law enforcement officials are currently on the hunt for a potential bomb threat in a kiosk located on Frankfurt Street

In an unusual turn of events, an explosion occurred in a kiosk on Frankfurter Straße in the 130 house number range on Sunday evening at approximately 19:45.

The area around the kiosk has been cordoned off, and evidence collection measures are being taken. One person present in the kiosk sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew. However, the extent of property damage cannot yet be estimated.

Investigations have been initiated, and a case of suspected arson is being considered. Witnesses who saw suspicious persons or vehicles in the area of the kiosk and can provide information are asked to contact the Criminal Police at 069 8098-1234.

Further investigations, including into the background, are ongoing. The head of the Southeast Hesse Police Directorate responsible for the investigation has not been explicitly stated, but Polizeipräsident Daniel Muth introduced Polizeihauptkommissar Timo Rosenberger as the interim head of the Southeast Hesse Highway Police Station, although this is a different unit.
