Leadership Mentorship Program for Women Concludes at Government's Main Offices

The Cross-Mentoring Program for Women in Administration, a collaborative initiative between the city, district, and RP Kassel administrations, recently held its second iteration in mid-May at the Walter-Lübcke-Saal in Kassel. The program aims to minimize the gender gap in leadership positions within public administration and promote the career development of women.

Led by the women's and equal opportunities officers of the city of Kassel, the district of Kassel, the city government headquarters, and RP Kassel, the program provides an intensive exchange, practical insights into leadership structures, and valuable impulses for the professional future of the participants. Around two-thirds of the staff in our city are women, and the program is designed to benefit small and medium-sized administrative units.

The target group of the program are female employees who are interested in a leadership function and are active in administrative authorities in the city and the district of Kassel. The program encourages exchange with experienced mentors to support female specialists and managers, offering opportunities for further development and networking, including regular meetings, network dinners, coaching, and workshops.

The Cross Mentoring program is open for more participation from the city administration in the future. Our city's mayor, Henry Richter, expressed his hope for increased participation, stating the importance of the female perspective in leadership positions. Landrat Andreas Siebert echoed this sentiment, emphasising that the administration benefits from targeted and cost-effective personnel development through the program.

Sonja Pfeiffer, women's and equal opportunities officer at RP Kassel, expressed her pleasure at the government headquarters in Kassel's participation in the program. The program focuses on inter-municipal networking, knowledge transfer, and best practice approaches to strengthen women in leadership positions.

The initiator and the first implementation date of the Cross-Mentoring Program for women in administration in Kassel are not currently known. However, the program's second iteration has shown promising results and a commitment to fostering leadership among women in public administration.
