British Milliners Crafting Unique Headpieces

In the heart of London and beyond, a vibrant community of milliners is creating fabulous hats for fabulously individual people. These artisans, each with their unique style and approach, are redefining the world of headwear.

Camilla Rose, a graduate from Kensington and Chelsea College, designs and crafts her hats from her South-West London studio. Her creations are one-of-a-kind, much like the people who wear them. Agnieszka Stanczyk also follows this ethos, handcrafting each of her hats as a unique piece.

Emma Fozard, on the other hand, brings a different perspective to millinery. Using woodworking and jewellery techniques, she creates headpieces that are textured with materials such as leather, paper, suede, and felt.

Moving north to Yorkshire, Kempadoo Millar specialises in hats made from luxury fabrics. Meanwhile, Helena Talbot started her business from her London living room in 2010 and has since grown into a respected milliner.

Chloe Haywood London, previously known as Hatastic!, was founded by Chloe Haywood who won Young Clothes Show Designer of the Year at just 16. Lesley Sharma, the designer behind Lady Sharma, offers bespoke design and ready-to-wear collections.

Stephen Jones, a highly influential British milliner and graduate of Central Saint Martins, teaches his craft at Central St. Martin's College of Art and Design. Emily Young, after a career in the events industry, enrolled in a millinery course at the London College of Fashion.

By Betty, established in 2012, specialises in hats and fascinators, operated by Beth in Burley-in-Wharfedale. Annabel Allen creates hand-crafted hats and headpieces in her Bristol studio. B Millinery, inspired by theatre design and vintage, was created by Ellen Bowden.

Imogen's Imagination offers a variety of hats, fascinators, and hair accessories for different occasions. Alice Mary Ball takes inspiration from architecture and surroundings for her designs.

Laird Hatters collaborate with British designers such as E Tautz, Ozwald Boateng, and Nigel Cabourne. Judy Bentinck, who trained with Rose Cory, set up her own label in 2002.

Sussex Tweed produces beautiful tweeds inspired by the Sussex countryside, all made in Britain. Shelley Zetuni is the creative force behind Goldust Millinery. Jojo, with 25 years of experience, continues to craft hats that are both timeless and innovative.

Lastly, Philip Wright offers a wide range of exquisite hats, perfect for any occasion and time of the year. Beverley Edmondson Millinery, established for 9 years, has a boutique in Farnham and has made hats for film, television, and a certain royal wedding.
