Leading Visionaries in the Realm of Audiovisual and Information Technology Discuss Work Arrangements in 2024 as a Mix of Office and Remote Setup
In a recent global study commissioned by Shure and conducted by IDC, it was found that while hybrid meeting environments have become the current working model, many organizations are not equipped with the necessary tools for effective communication.
Sean Bowman, Associate Vice President of North America Sales at Shure, emphasized the importance of conferencing technology for productive communication and work. He highlighted solutions that offer seamless connectivity, easy configuration, and compatibility with leading streaming platforms as key to a productive workplace.
Yannic Laleeuwe, Marketing Director of Meeting Experience at Barco ClickShare, added to this, emphasizing the role of video technology in bringing inclusivity and equity to the meeting room. His company is one of the many mentioned in the study, along with Absen, AMX HARMAN, Atlona, AVer, Avocor, Barco ClickShare, Black Box, Crestron, Digital Projection, Extron, HDBaseT Alliance, HP, Jabra, Jupiter Systems, Korbyt, Legrand | AV, Lightware, Logitech, Mersive Technologies, NETGEAR, Nureva, Panasonic Connect, Planar, Q-SYS, SDVoE Alliance, Sennheiser, Sony Electronics, Vanco, Yamaha UC, and more.
The study also found that 95% of IT decision makers plan office changes to support remote and hybrid work. However, employees without access to high-quality audio and tech tools often cite poor communication and collaboration or low attention levels as challenges. This has led to employees feeling discouraged and disengaged in hybrid workplaces.
In an effort to address these challenges, 30 AV/IT companies have committed to focusing on effective communication in hybrid work environments, although the specific names of these companies are not publicly disclosed.
Perry Sun, Product Marketing Manager at Atlona, noted significant demand for AV systems supporting in-person and hybrid meeting applications. He also mentioned the trend of integrating security mechanisms into products and implementing AI into meeting management and processes, a point echoed by David Missall, Insights Manager at Sennheiser.
The study further indicated that fewer than 15% of meeting spaces are video-enabled, leaving room for growth in the adoption of AV/IT solutions. As organizations continue to adapt to the hybrid work model, the role of these solutions in fostering effective communication and productivity becomes increasingly crucial.
