In the world of sports, it's not every day you find a connection between golf and football. But for Lee Westwood, a former world number 1 golfer, this fusion is more than just an anomaly.

Westwood, a dedicated Nottingham Forest supporter, has shown a keen interest in football, even considering a football player as a potential caddy from the football arena. Jimmy Bullard, a friend of Westwood, has expressed his interest in golf and, according to Westwood, could potentially compete on the Legends Tour with hard work and focus.

Westwood believes Bullard is the best footballer-golfer among his contacts, but he's quick to point out that Sergio Garcia, a golfer who has been president and played for a hometown team in Spain, is the best footballer among golfers he knows. The two have even discussed the possibility of attending a Real Madrid match together if Nottingham Forest, Westwood's beloved team, had faced Real Madrid in the Champions League. Unfortunately, Real Madrid was not a potential opponent for Nottingham Forest in the tournament, and the team missed out on the Champions League.

The football-golf connection isn't limited to Westwood and Bullard. Alan Shearer, a former England striker and Newcastle United legend, is among Westwood's contacts. Shearer twice asked to caddy for Westwood at the Masters, but was denied both times. The Par 3 Contest at the Masters, where Shearer was supposed to caddy for Westwood, was cancelled due to a storm. However, Westwood promised Shearer he could caddy for him at the Masters in the following year.

On a different occasion, Westwood's wife, Helen, caddied for him when Alan Shearer was supposed to. Westwood has not revealed who else from the world of football he would consider as a caddy, keeping the football-golf connection a tantalising mystery.
