Leisure time in Münster is centered around sports, camaraderie, and dedication for the city's youth.

In the heart of Münster, on August 26, 2025, at 2 pm, Gleis 22 of the Youth Information and Education Center echoed with applause and excitement as the city celebrated the winners of its youth survey. Bernhard Paschert, head of the department for children, young people, and families, was present to congratulate the participants and acknowledge their contributions.

A total of around 4,400 young people aged 12-18 took part in the city's online survey about leisure activities. The survey aimed to understand the reality of young people's lives better and develop offers in a targeted manner.

The high level of participation demonstrated the potential and responsibility that lies in the involvement of young people, as stated by Bernhard Paschert. He further noted that around 81% of the participants regularly engage in sports such as cycling, swimming, or playing football. Spending free time with friends is popular among 86% of the surveyed young people, while around 35% are involved in a club, youth group, or association.

Moreover, around 12% of the young people are specifically active in youth association work, and 82% support their families in their free time. These findings highlight the active and caring nature of Münster's youth.

As a token of thanks for their participation, the city of Münster drew prizes for participants in the youth survey. The winners were announced at the award ceremony, which was also attended by Maike Wille, Mia Aupers, Sophie Pape, and Maike Ingenfeld.

The results of the youth survey will be incorporated into the development of the new children and youth promotion plan in Münster. This plan guides the development of leisure, education, and participation offers for young people in Münster, ensuring that the city continues to cater to the needs and interests of its youth.
