Lenovo Announces New ThinkPad Docks with Improved Power Delivery and Display Support

Lenovo, a leading manufacturer in the technology industry, has announced three new ThinkPad docks expected to arrive in Q3 2025. Among them are the ThinkPad USB4 Smart Dock 5500, the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Smart Dock Gen 2 7500, and the highly anticipated ThinkPad Thunderbolt 5 Smart Dock 7500.

The ThinkPad USB4 Smart Dock 5500, priced at around $280 less than its Thunderbolt 5 counterpart and $110 less than the Thunderbolt 4 version, offers quad USB-A ports at up to 12W of charging. It also includes three USB-C ports at up to 7.5W of power, and downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports with 15W. The dock has mounting slots on the underside for easy removal from the desktop.

The ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Smart Dock Gen 2 7500, priced at $549.99, supports up to 60Hz refresh rate for four 4K displays. It also offers power delivery of 100W. Notably, it supports one 8K display at a 60Hz refresh rate and up to 60Hz refresh rate for two 4K displays each.

The star of the show, however, is the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 5 Smart Dock 7500. This dock can handle up to three 8K displays each at a 60Hz refresh rate, plus a fourth 4K display also at a 60Hz refresh rate. It supports up to 180W of charging power and is compatible with Wake-On-Lan (WOL), PXE Boot, and MAC Address Passthrough.

All three docks are said to support Accessories Fleet Manager. The Thunderbolt 5 host cable of the dock is removable and connects in a small cutout area.

These new ThinkPad docks are set to provide users with enhanced connectivity, improved power delivery, and superior display support, making them an attractive choice for professionals and tech enthusiasts alike.
