Let's get started on constructing the Skoda, shall we?
In the world of automotive design, Skoda has recently revealed a new model that draws inspiration from its past, specifically the Felicia Fun model. The designer behind this modern take, Julien Petitseigneur, has been working in Skoda's interior design team for several years.
Petitseigneur, who studied design with a focus on interior design in France, found the original Felicia Fun model entertaining and unusual during the design process. He has managed to retain the characteristic yellow colour of the original model in the new design, creating a clear connection to the past.
The body of the new design features a wider overall structure, large wheels, black wheel arch trims, and a distinctive contrast spoiler. Additionally, pink accents can be found in the brand logo, on the wheels, and in the window trim, paying homage to the 1990s aesthetic.
The rear of the new design features unusual pink rear lights connected by a light strip, reminiscent of the lights on the Felicia Fun model produced between 1997 and 2000. Elements such as the Tech-Deck mask or T-shaped LED lights in the new design recall the Vision 7S study.
The interior design mixes old and new style elements. The display of the interior screen is oriented towards the optics of video games from the 1990s and is intended to recall classic cathode-ray tube monitors. However, a continuous screen across the width of the cockpit follows the design language of current Skoda models.
The Felicia Fun model had unique features, including a sliding partition wall. Petitseigneur has also incorporated this feature into the new design, along with additional parts of the Felicia Fun model, such as bumpers, side skirts, or the rear spoiler, which could be accented in green or orange.
The front design of the new model is oriented towards current electric models from Skoda. Petitseigneur refined these concepts by hand, with the pure development time being around two weeks with evening work sessions. He used digital aids for the development of his vision and tested various approaches with prompts to develop basic ideas.
Petitseigneur was also involved in the concept car Vision O, which marks the next step in Skoda's design approach. With a total production of 4,216 units, all painted yellow, the original Felicia Fun model remains a significant part of Skoda's history. The new model promises to be a modern interpretation of this iconic design, offering a blend of nostalgia and innovation.
