Lexus LBX Morizo RR, poised to hit production, will boast power similar to Toyota GR Yaris.
The Lexus LBX Morizo RR, a performance-focused variant of the compact crossover, is set to make its grand entrance in the UK later this year. Originally confirmed for sale only in Japan, this high-performance model is poised to bring a new level of excitement to the British automotive scene.
The Lexus LBX Morizo RR boasts several notable upgrades, including enhanced brakes, chassis, and suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox, a subtle bodykit, sports seats, and a dual-pipe exhaust system.
The new LBX also features a tamed spindle grille, reflecting Lexus's commitment to balancing performance with elegance. However, the specific details of the powertrain and pricing for the UK market have yet to be announced.
The LBX Morizo RR's powertrain is borrowed from the Toyota GR Yaris, packing a punch with 300bhp and all-wheel drive. This powerhouse propels the vehicle from 0-62mph in an impressive 5.2 seconds.
The LBX, which serves as the entry point for Lexus, is based on the Toyota Yaris Cross. The original LBX, unveiled last year, was a significant departure from the Lexus CT Hatch, marking a shift towards crossovers and SUVs.
The development of the LBX Morizo RR has been extensive, with extensive testing at the Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama and various circuits. The concept model was first revealed at the Toyota Motor Show in early 2024, and the production version is now set to debut on 5 June 2023.
Besides Japan, the LBX Morizo RR with the Toyota GR Yaris engine is also being considered for markets in Europe and North America. The relaxed, casual driving experience offered by the LBX Morizo RR belies its performance capabilities, delivering a surprise punch when driven spiritedly.
