The Japan Pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka, located on the man-made island of Yumeshima, offers a unique and enlightening experience for visitors. Themed "Between Lives", the pavilion aims to support global efforts to address social and environmental challenges, as stated by its Acting Director, Takubo Norihiko.

Upon entering, visitors are greeted with the statement "Life begins with waste". This sets the tone for an educational journey through the building's three zones, designed to illustrate the Japanese aesthetic concept of 'circulation'. The pavilion showcases various innovative exhibits, each symbolising the cycle of life and linking microorganisms to human existence.

One such exhibit is a recycling factory concept, where microorganisms transform waste-derived materials into fuel, food, medicine, and clothing. The pavilion also demonstrates a system that converts food waste into electricity and clean water for seaweed cultivation.

The Japan Pavilion also highlights the nutritional benefits of algae and its potential as a source of CO2 absorption. Visitors can learn about the importance of algae in maintaining a sustainable future.

In addition to the educational exhibits, the Japan Pavilion features an installation that decomposes garbage and transforms it into biogas. This installation serves as a powerful reminder of the potential of waste and the importance of responsible waste management.

For those seeking a taste of Japanese cuisine, Kura Sushi, a restaurant located inside the Expo venue, offers an extensive sushi menu. The restaurant is renowned for its "dual-mode conveyor" system, which provides convenience and efficiency. Kura Sushi offers a variety of dishes, including the rare Fugu (pufferfish) sushi at select locations and at a limited time, such as the Osaka Expo.

Every sushi plate at Kura Sushi is protected by Mr. Freshness, an antibacterial cover that shields the food from germs and harmful particles, ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience. The salmon sushi was particularly enjoyed by the visiting journalist.

The journalist was selected for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Journalists Invitation Program (JIP) and attended a global briefing that included an overview of the Osaka Expo and details about its grand spectacle, One World, One Planet. The briefing provided valuable insights into the vision and goals of the Expo 2025 Osaka, themed "Designing Future Society for Our Lives".

The Japan Pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka is a must-visit for those interested in sustainable living, Japanese culture, and innovative technology. It serves as a testament to Japan's commitment to addressing global challenges and promoting a sustainable future.
