The Evangelical Academy Bad Boll, an independent institution of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg, is set to host a significant event aimed at addressing gender-based violence. The conference, titled "South Africa and Germany in Solidarity: Walking Together Against Gender-Based Violence," will take place from September 26 to 28, 2025, at the Evangelical Conference Center Bad Boll.
This international conference will bring together activists, scientists, church representatives, and young people from South Africa and Germany to develop strategies against gender-based violence and open up solidarity perspectives for empowerment. The organiser of this conference is WÖK (Weltweite Ökumene e.V.).
The highlight of the event is a concert featuring the award-winning South African singer Thabile. Known for her powerful voice and poignant lyrics, Thabile was awarded the Africa Festival Award as "Artist of the Year 2023." Her songs tell the stories of oppressed women in South Africa, conveying themes of hope, strength, and joy. Thabile's music is a unique blend of Soul, Jazz, Gospel, and African rhythms.
The concert, scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at 8 PM, is open to the public and can be attended independently of the conference. Admission is free. For those interested in attending the conference, the cost is 70,00 € for participation without accommodation/breakfast, 220,00 € for participation with accommodation/breakfast in a single room, and 181,00 € for participation with accommodation/breakfast in a double room.
