Tottenham Hotspur Pursue Xavi Simons Amidst Transfer Market Shake-up

Tottenham Hotspur, currently managed by Thomas Frank, are eyeing a transfer for Xavi Simons, a highly-rated attacking midfielder. The Spurs have taken over the transfer negotiations for the La Masia graduate, who is valued at 70 million euros and was under contract at RB Leipzig.

The transfer saga surrounding Simons has been a hot topic in recent months. Spanish outlet Fichajes claimed that the transfer fee for Simons to Chelsea would be around £95 million, a figure that is close to the current transfer record at Tottenham Hotspur. However, with Benjamin Sesko now at Manchester United, RB Leipzig's position on keeping Simons may have changed.

Florian Plettenberg, a Sky Germany journalist, claimed last month that Simons was close to a verbal agreement with Chelsea. But more recently, Orazio Accomando, another journalist, claimed that a full agreement had been reached between Simons and Chelsea for around £60m.

Tottenham Hotspur's pursuit of Simons comes at a time when they are facing several injuries. James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Son Heung-min are currently unavailable for much of the season. Despite these setbacks, Tottenham have started life under Frank extremely well, winning their opening two fixtures in the Premier League.

As they prepare for this weekend's home game against Bournemouth in Premier League action, Tottenham Hotspur are also looking to strengthen their squad. They are reportedly interested in signing a no.10 and a left-winger, in addition to another defender.

Transfermarkt values Simons at €70m, placing him at no.8 in our website's list of the best attacking midfielders in the world right now. If the transfer goes through, it would be a significant addition to the Tottenham squad, as they continue to compete in the Premier League.

However, Tottenham's recent transfer pursuits have not been without obstacles. Morgan Gibbs-White remains at Nottingham Forest, and Eberechi Eze has joined Arsenal. The battle for Simons' signature is set to be a fascinating subplot in the transfer window.

The transfer of Xavi Simons to Tottenham Hotspur, if it happens, will be completed in August 2025. The Spurs will be hoping that the talented midfielder can help them continue their impressive start to the season and challenge for honours in the Premier League.
