WestLotto Introduces New Optical Terminals for Modernized Lottery Experience

WestLotto, a leading German lottery company, is set to modernize its retail experience with the introduction of over 3,000 new lottery terminals across North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) starting from April 2025.

These new terminals, known as Contour.v-Terminals, will feature HD screens for both the cashier and the lottery player, aiming to provide a clearer, more vibrant visual experience. The improved user interface will make it easier for customers to navigate lottery options.

One of the key features of these terminals is self-scanning capabilities. This allows customers to scan their lottery tickets themselves, speeding up the process of checking tickets and potentially purchasing new ones. This innovation reduces dependency on staff, allowing for quicker service and potentially fewer errors in ticket validation.

The new terminals will also be equipped with modern hardware and software. This upgrade will ensure faster transactions, support a wider range of lottery games and features, and integrate with mobile and digital lottery services for a seamless player experience.

Security is another priority, with advanced security features included to prevent fraud and ensure ticket authenticity. The terminals are designed to be easy to use by all age groups, including accessibility features.

The rollout plan for NRW involves a gradual installation across retail and authorized sales points. The initial pilot phase started in select locations earlier this year, with full deployment scheduled over several months, aiming for completion by the end of the current year or early next year. WestLotto has communicated with partners and retailers to coordinate installation schedules, minimizing disruption.

Matthias Müller, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Scientific Games, expressed pleasure at the collaboration with WestLotto, citing their focus on technology and innovative vision for modernizing the lottery retail experience. Westdeutsche Lottery CEO, Andreas Kötter, believes the collaboration will further modernize their retail network and improve the gaming experience for customers.

WestLotto offers various German lotteries, including the classic 6 out of 49, Super 6, and Spiel 77, in addition to the new lottery terminals. This move is part of a broader trend in the German lottery industry, with other companies like Lotto BW and Lotto Hessen also modernizing their offerings.

For more detailed or updated information, it is best to check directly with WestLotto or local lottery retailer communications.

What about the possibility of introducing casino-and-gambling options at these new WestLotto terminals for an even more immersive gaming experience?

With the advancements in modern hardware and software, it would be intriguing to contemplate the integration of casino-and-gambling features alongside the existing lottery games, further enhancing the gaming experience at the new WestLotto terminals.
