MacBooks with M4 processors expected to hit the market within the next month

In the world of technology, October is a month eagerly anticipated by Apple enthusiasts. This is when the tech giant is rumoured to unveil its latest MacBook lineup, powered by the new M4 chips, according to a report by 9to5Mac.

The M4 series, including the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips, will reportedly power the upcoming slate of Mac hardware releases. These SoCs are AI-focused and will be accompanied by a range of Apple Intelligence features.

The MacBook Pro will see two higher-end options, the 14-inch and 16-inch models codenamed J614 and J616, hitting the shelves. Alongside these, there's a rumoured budget 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro, codenamed J604.

The MacBook Airs are also due for an M4 upgrade, with the J713 and J715 models expected to receive the update by the spring of 2023.

The Mac Mini, which underwent a revamp in January 2023, upgrading to an M2 Pro, is predicted to skip the M3 lineup and upgrade to an M4 SoC. Meanwhile, the Mac Mini (J773) is rumoured to have two new SoC variants, M4 and M4 Pro.

The iMac is also set to get a refresh, with the J623 model expected to feature the M4 chip. Interestingly, 9to5Mac speculates a switch to Type-C for the iMac, as it's still running on a Lightning cable, a move that could address concerns about the EU's displeasure with the current setup.

Apart from the Mac devices, Apple is also anticipated to release new, lower-end iPads alongside the MacBook Pros next month. The Mac Pro (J704) is predicted to come out towards the end of 2025, while the Mac Studio (J575) is alleged to launch around the middle of 2025, potentially debuting the M4 Ultra chip. It's also rumoured that the Mac Studio will have a low-end M4 Max variant.

In a separate development, Apple introduced a new iPhone series, a renewed Apple Watch series, and a pair of AirPods in September.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that the M4 MacBook overhaul will likely happen "in the coming weeks," adding to the excitement surrounding Apple's October event.
