Magnet-user discovers gold timepiece within money container
In the picturesque town of Oberstenfeld, a magnet fishing tour for children led to an unexpected find that would change the course of history.
Markus Kronenwett, a resident of Oberstenfeld, organised the tour with the hope of inspiring the next generation of adventurers. Little did he know, the day would end with the discovery of a cash drawer, lost for over 30 years, and the return of a priceless heirloom to its rightful owner.
The children, armed with magnet fishing ropes and their enthusiasm, waded through the Söhlbach stream. Their cries of excitement echoed as they pulled out shopping carts, bicycles, and other metal objects from the water. But it was the shout of "treasure!" that truly caught everyone's attention.
To their surprise, the treasure turned out to be a money box. Inside, the magnet fisherman found small change, documents, and a golden watch. The watch, it transpired, was a surprise gift intended for the fisherman's late wife.
The owner of the cash drawer, a gastronome from Beilstein, was initially unaware that it had been found. The burglary, which occurred during a break-in at a guesthouse in the early 1990s, had long been a cold case. However, the discovery of the cash drawer in the stream has significantly advanced the resolution of this long-unsolved mystery.
The documents in the cash drawer provided a lead that led to the owner. The money box, containing user cards for a wholesaler, was still legible after over 30 years due to being covered with gravel and the clean water in the stream.
The owner was elated about the return of his late wife's golden watch, stolen during the burglary. The find in the money box led to hot leads in the investigation of the burglary from the early 1990s.
The cash drawer, containing the documents and the golden watch, has been placed in the Magnet Fishing Museum in Oberstenfeld, where it will serve as a testament to the unexpected findings that can come from a day of adventure.
The magnet fishing tour, a great adventure according to Markus Kronenwett, has not only provided an exciting day out for the children but has also solved a decades-old mystery and returned a cherished item to its rightful owner. It serves as a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected discoveries can come from the most ordinary of places.
