Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, challenges Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) head, Sharad Pawar, over the Maratha quota issue. Pawar warns, "Don't push me to reveal more."

In a significant turn of events, Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), have made contrasting remarks about the Maratha reservation issue.

Ajit Pawar, in a media interaction, subtly criticised those suggesting constitutional changes for the Maratha reservation issue. He pointed out that those advocating for such changes had themselves been in power for many years. However, he did not elaborate further on his comments.

Sharad Pawar, on the other hand, argued that if the Maratha community wants to progress, reservation is the only way forward. He called for a policy-level decision at the Centre regarding the Maratha reservation issue.

These remarks are seen as a sign of differences within the Pawar family on the Maratha quota issue. Ajit Pawar's comments are perceived as a sharp counter to Sharad Pawar's stance.

Meanwhile, the Maratha quota issue continues to be a hot topic in Mumbai, with activist Manoj Jarange Patil leading protests at Azad Maidan. The second day of the stir saw Manoj sticking to the Kunbi demand as initial talks failed.

It is not specified whether the Centre has taken a policy decision regarding the Maratha reservation issue. The Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, met with Odisha CM Majhi to discuss education reforms and NEP, which is not related to the Maratha quota issue.

A separate incident in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, has also been making headlines. A video shows an old man losing balance and getting swept away by a strong river current. The incident is not linked to the Maratha quota issue.

As the debate on the Maratha reservation issue continues, it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
