Maharashtra Minister Accused by Rohit Pawar of Involvement in a Land Scam Worth Rs 5,000 Crores

In a shocking turn of events, Rohit Pawar, NCP MLA, has accused Maharashtra Minister Sanjay Shirsath of illegally transferring a 15-acre prime CIDCO land parcel in Navi Mumbai, valued at nearly Rs 5,000 crore. The land, originally reserved for affordable housing for the poor, could have been used to construct up to 10,000 affordable housing units.

The allegations were made by Rohit Pawar in a post on social media. According to him, the land allocation benefited the Bivalkar family, heirs of those who once sided with colonial powers. He claims that the land transfer allegedly bypassed established procedures.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has announced a protest march at the CIDCO office in Navi Mumbai, demanding the revocation of the land allocation and Mr. Shirsath's resignation from the state cabinet. The land allocation is a point of contention in the ongoing dispute between Rohit Pawar and Mr. Shirsath.

In 2024, Mr. Shirsath, as CIDCO chairman, allocated approximately 15 acres of the land to the Bivalkar family. Following Independence, the land was taken over by the state under various laws and government resolutions. However, the search results do not contain any information about the chairman of CIDCO in 2024 or the land allocation to the Bivalkar family in Navi Mumbai originally reserved for affordable housing. Therefore, the name of the person who made this decision remains unknown.

The Bivalkar family, according to Rohit Pawar, had been rewarded with over 4,000 acres of land in Navi Mumbai by the British for siding against the Maratha Empire. Despite their efforts to reclaim the land, their attempts have been consistently rejected.

It's important to note that the post did not provide any evidence to support the allegations made against Mr. Shirsath and the Bivalkar family. Additionally, the post did not specify any connection between the land transfer allegations and the GST reforms, which the post also claimed would bring relief to the common man and MSMEs.

The protest march is scheduled for Wednesday. The outcome of this controversy promises to be a significant development in the political landscape of Maharashtra.
