Major Incident on A59 Motorway Near Duisburg - Severe Accident Leaves One Critical and Three With Minor Injuries - Full Road Closure Enforced
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, a significant traffic accident occurred on the A59 near Duisburg. The incident involved three cars and took place in Düsseldorf.
The driver of one of the cars, a 53-year-old man from Duisburg, lost control of his Audi A6. This vehicle lightly touched a Citroen Jumpy, driven by a 59-year-old man from Dortmund. Unfortunately, the driver of the Audi had to be taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The Citroen Jumpy was occupied by the driver and two passengers aged 68 and 71 from Duisburg. The three occupants of the vehicle were lightly injured.
Following the collision, the Audi then collided with a VW Transporter. The driver of this vehicle, a 69-year-old man from Duisburg, was also involved in the accident. No information is currently available about the condition of the drivers of the other two cars.
The main lane towards Dinslaken was completely blocked during the accident investigation, but traffic was rerouted via the parallel lane. All vehicles involved in the accident were severely damaged and had to be towed away.
Initial investigations suggest that the accident was due to a medical emergency.
